<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing honeycomb structures that can flexibly accommodate changes in the outer diameter of honeycomb moldings with through-holes that are to be plugged and can easily produce honeycomb structures in which desired through-holes have been plugged without generating defective plugs. <P>SOLUTION: The method for producing honeycomb structures comprises: a step of disposing a mask 170 having multiple openings 171 in an end face of a cylindrical honeycomb molding 70 having multiple through-holes 71 so that the multiple openings 171 respectively face the multiple through-holes 71 of the honeycomb molding 70, and of disposing a ring 270 having an inner diameter substantially equal to the outer diameter of the honeycomb molding 70 on the surface of the mask 170 on the side opposite the honeycomb molding 70 side so as to cover the openings 171 of the mask 170 that are positioned to the outside of the outer circumference of the honeycomb molding 70; and a step of supplying a plugging material to the inside of the ring 270 and filling the plugging material into the through-holes 71 of the honeycomb molding 70 through the openings 171 of the mask 170. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
