<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of suppressing adhesion of a pressure board unit to a platen glass and suitably suppressing an original document floating, and thereby reducing deterioration in image quality, and to provide an image forming apparatus with the device. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 1 includes: a platen glass 2 on which an original document S is placed; an openable pressure board unit 3 that presses the original document S placed on the platen glass 2 to the platen glass 2; and an image reading unit 4 that reads image information of the original document S pressed to the platen glass 2 by the pressure board unit 3 while moving in a sub-scanning direction Y perpendicular to a main scanning direction X, and the a pressure surface of the pressure board unit 3 pressing the original document S to the platen glass 2 has a step portion 8 that forms a space 14 extending in the sub-scanning direction Y to at least one end in the sub-scanning direction Y in a situation that the pressure board unit 3 is closed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
