<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head cleaning device capable of cleaning a head used for an image forming apparatus for forming an image by using an ink, such as an inkjet printer, without the mechanical contact of a blade with the head, and to provide the image forming apparatus including the head cleaning device. <P>SOLUTION: The head cleaning device includes: a conductive plate member 61a which is included in heads 61Y, 61M, 61C, and 61BK; a cleaning member 31 which includes a plurality of electrodes 37, which are arranged along a predetermined direction C1, and an insulating film 38 which covers the plurality of electrodes 37 and whose surface has repellency; and a voltage applying means which periodically applies a voltage to the plurality of electrodes 37 along the predetermined direction C1, in such a state that the surface of the insulating film 38 faces the plate member 61a, to move a liquid L held between the surface of the insulating film 38 and the plate member 61a along the predetermined direction C1 and clean the plate member 61a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
