<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device using a phosphor having good temperature characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: A light-emitting device comprises a light-emitting element emitting light having a wavelength of 250 to 500 nm, and a phosphor layer arranged on the light-emitting element. The phosphor layer contains a phosphor having a composition represented by formula (A) and having an emission peak from the wavelength of 490 nm to the wavelength of 580 nm when excited with light having a wavelength of 250-500 nm, and having diffraction peaks simultaneously at diffraction angles (2θ) of 11.81 to 11.85°, 15.34 to 15.39°, 20.40 to 20.47°, and 23.74 to 23.86° in X-ray diffraction using CuKα characteristic X-ray(wavelength 1.54056Å).
