<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retardation film and a method for producing the film, showing appropriate optical performances as a retardation film, having high stability to a saponification process and excellent transparency even when the film is made sufficiently thin to be applicable to a roll-to-panel production method, and to provide a polarizing plate and a liquid crystal display device improved in polarization irregularity preventing property, a viewing angle and display uniformity, by incorporating the retardation film into the polarizing plate or the display device. <P>SOLUTION: The retardation film is produced by successively laminating a core layer containing a specified cellulose ester and a skin layer containing a specified cellulose ester, in an order of the skin layer, the core layer and the skin layer. The film has an in-plane orientation degree S<SB POS="POST">th</SB>of 3.3×10<SP POS="POST">-3</SP>or more and an in-plane retardation value Ro exhibiting reverse wavelength dispersibility. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
