<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes special toner consumables that eliminate the need for cleaning before and after use and are easily replaced by a user. <P>SOLUTION: When developing is carried out using special toner, a shutter 61 of a toner supply path 59 is shut first, which is connected to a developing device 9k of black toner. The developing device 9k is then disconnected from the toner supply path 59 and removed from the disposed position as indicated by an arrow c. A preliminary developing device 9r accommodating special toner is attached and disposed at the disposed position where the developing device 9k has been removed as indicated by an arrow d.
