<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove slag deposits around a slag discharge port to thereby prevent clogging of the slag discharge port. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method for removing slag deposits deposited around a slag discharge port 12, in a coal gasification apparatus 4 having: a reaction furnace body 11 in the interior of which the combustion reaction of coal 16, 19 is generated to thereby generate a coal gasified gas containing at least hydrogen gas and carbon monoxide gas, and a slag 25; and a discharge tank 13 which communicates with the reaction furnace body 11 through a slag discharge port 12, and into which the slag 25 is discharged through the slag discharge port 12 from the reaction furnace body 11.
