<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing metal powders or metal hydride powders of elements Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta and Cr. <P>SOLUTION: An oxide of each of the elements is mixed with a reducing agent and the mixture is heated in a furnace until a reduction reaction (for the production of metal hydrides) commences, optionally under a hydrogen atmosphere, the reaction product is leached, then washed and dried. The oxide used in this process has an average particle size of 0.5 to 20 μm, a BET specific surface of 0.5 to 20 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g and a minimum content of 94 mass%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
