<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copolymer which has a wide degree of freedom in preparation including spray, mist, wax and the like, while having high settability and hair restylability; and to provide a cosmetic composition containing the same. <P>SOLUTION: There are provided the copolymer containing a vinyl monomer (A) represented by formula (1) and another vinyl monomer, wherein the copolymer does not dissolve in water at <30°C, and has an endothermic initiation point between -25°C to 40°C when being heated from a low temperature, and the cosmetic composition containing the copolymer.
