摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device and an optical unit capable of effectively eliminating uneven hue due to in-plane variations in the thickness of liquid crystal layers in a plurality of liquid crystal panels corresponding to the respective wavelength ranges. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display device includes three reflective liquid crystal panels 100 (a red liquid crystal panel 100R, a green liquid crystal panel 100G, and a blue liquid crystal panel 100B) to which light beams of the respective colors are incident. The film thickness of an ITO film constituting a common electrode 21 in the blue liquid crystal panel 100B is smaller compared to the film thickness of an ITO film constituting a common electrode 21 in the red liquid crystal panel 100R and in the green liquid crystal panel 100G.
