<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diffractometer and usage of the same. <P>SOLUTION: A compact powder diffractometer has one or more detectors (18) arranged less than 300 mm, in an example 55 mm, from a sample stage (17) for mounting a powder sample (14).
