<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water electrolysis system capable of suppressing a deterioration phenomenon due to electrical treatment when electrically treating water to produce radical oxygen water. <P>SOLUTION: The water electrolysis system includes a water supply part, an electrolyte supplying part, and a water electrolyzer 1. The water supply part supplies water. The electrolyte supplying part supplies electrolyte. The water electrolyzer 1 in which water is supplied to an anode, and electrolyte is supplied to a cathode, performs treatment which electrolyzes water, and sends out water after the treatment. In the water electrolyzer 1, a solid electrolyte membrane 10 and a cathode 8 are separately prepared. The electrolyte supplied to the cathode 8 contains a chlorine ion.
