<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tool for manufacturing an aluminum can, which has excellent seizure resistance in manufacturing an aluminum can and which can be easily film-removed and re-coated thereby being reusable, and to provide a method for manufacturing the tool. <P>SOLUTION: The tool for manufacturing an aluminum can having excellent seizure resistance is provided. The tool is obtained by: using as a base material, tool steel which contains regulated composition of the base material and includes M<SB POS="POST">7</SB>C<SB POS="POST">3</SB>-based carbide in the microstructure, the M<SB POS="POST">7</SB>C<SB POS="POST">3</SB>-based carbide having a size of 5-20 μm and an area ratio of 5-15% or tool steel which further contains ≤0.060% of S; forming a nitrided layer on the surface of the base material; covering a hard coating film on the nitrided layer, the hard coating film being composed of a single body or a mixture of nitride, carbide or carbonitride comprising at least one of Ti, Zr, H, V, Nb, Ta, Al and Cr, and further covering a coating film of Al-Cr based nitride on the hard coating film.
