<p>An objective of the present invention is to enhance the sense of depth to be obtained by a user who views a 3-D image. To achieve the objective, as an example, first stereoscopic image information is acquired concerning a first image and a second image which have a relation wherein positions of pixels which denote the same portion of an object deviate in a given direction. Additionally, a reference value of a degree of deviation is determined in accordance with the degree of deviation of the positions of the pixels which denote the same portion of the object between the first image and the second image. In addition, information is acquired concerning a first reference region image and a second reference region image which have a relation wherein positions of pixels which denote the same portion of an object to be displayed deviate in a given direction by a degree corresponding to the reference value. Furthermore, second stereoscopic image information is generated by the compositing of the first image, the second image, the first reference region image, and the second reference region image.</p> |
