IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of detecting a secular abnormality such as a cleaning failure on a surface of a photoreceptor.

SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor 1 on which image formation is performed; a charging part 2 for charging the photoreceptor 1; an exposure part 3 for exposing the photoreceptor 1; a developing part 4 for developing the exposed photoreceptor 1 by toner; a photoreceptor transfer part 5 for transferring a toner image on the photoreceptor 1; and a cleaning part 6 for removing residual toner on the photoreceptor 1. The image forming apparatus further includes: a close type image sensor including a light source 7 for irradiating the surface of the photoreceptor 1 with inspection light in a main scanning direction of the photoreceptor 1 between the cleaning part 6 and the charging part 2 and a line image sensor 8 receiving the inspection light reflected on the surface of the photoreceptor 1; and a control part for determining the surface state of the photoreceptor 1 based on the light receiving result of the line image sensor 8. Accordingly, secularly generated abnormalities in the photoreceptor 1 and the cleaning part 6 in the image forming apparatus are detected to avoid generation of abnormal images as much as possible.
