<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for compatibly suppressing the deterioration of reception characteristics and reducing a processing amount when using error correction coding. <P>SOLUTION: A first coding part 50 generates a first parity from inputted information data, and a second coding part 54 generates a second parity from the inputted information data. As the operation of the first coding part 50 and the second coding part 54, at least a first mode and a second mode are stipulated and one of the modes is selected. A generation part 56 generates transmission data on the basis of the information data, the first parity and the second parity in the case of the first mode, and generates transmission data on the basis of the information data and the first parity in the case of the second mode.
