<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that has improved reliability in protecting a switching element from overheating, and an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: If the rate of increase of temperature detected by a temperature detection part 13 is not less than the reference rate of increase, a control part 100A included in a fixing device turns off a switching element 120 when the temperature of the switching element 120 exceeds a first reference temperature; if the rate of increase is less than the reference rate of increase, the control part 100A turns off the switching element 120 when the temperature of the switching element 120 exceeds a second reference temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
