The invention relates to a method for communication, within a packet-mode communication network, between user equipment and a data network. A session is established between said user equipment and a data-network access gateway via an access network. The method includes: a step (E11) of detecting a request for access to a service on the basis of at least one packet transmitted by the user device via the established session; a first step (E12) of determining, on the basis of at least one criterion, that a new session is to be established; a second step (E21) of determining another access gateway, said other gateway being suitable for the service required by the user equipment; and a step (E22) of triggering the establishment of said new session between the user equipment and said other access gateway, said establishment being initiated by equipment of the packet-mode communication network.
