<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a newly identified serum resistance factor of gram positive bacteria, and a composition for treatment and prevention of bacterial infection, comprising the factor. <P>SOLUTION: The newly identified serum resistance factor of gram positive bacteria, a BibA polypeptide, can be used to treat or prevent bacterial infection. The protein comprises a portion of a BibA protein which portion is selected from the group consisting of: a coiled-coil domain; a leader sequence and the coiled coil domain of the BibA protein; a proline-rich domain of the BibA protein; the coiled-coil domain and the proline-rich domain of the BibA protein; and the leader sequence, the coiled coil domain, and the proline-rich domain of the BibA protein. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
