<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical amplifier in which signal waveform distortion can be reduced. <P>SOLUTION: Since each linearly polarized light is input from each side of an amplification medium 10 in a ray path tester 301, one linearly polarized light travels through the amplification medium after the other linearly polarized light passed through the amplification medium during one half of the time required for travelling through the amplification medium 10. Since the one linearly polarized light passes through one half of the amplification medium where the carrier density is in steady state due to passage of the other linearly polarized light, signal waveform distortion is reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
