DISPLAY DRIVING DEVICE AND VIDEO DATA COMPRESSION AND RESTORATION METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display driving device including a memory and its video data compression and restoration method.

SOLUTION: The display driving device according to the embodiment of this invention includes an encoder, a decoder and a source driver. The encoder respectively calculates errors by a binary coding system and a DPCM encoding system for input video data of a PenTile system, and compresses the input video data according to one of the binary encoding system and the DPCM encoding system selected on the basis of the error calculation result. The decoder restores the data compressed by the encoder according to a decoding system corresponding to the one encoding system. Then, the source driver drives a source line connected to a display panel on the basis of the data restored by the decoder.
