<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and compositions for modulating an immune response in a subject, or methods for treating an immune dysfunction in a subject with or at risk of an immune dysfunction. <P>SOLUTION: The methods for adjusting the immune response in the subject includes administering to the subject a composition comprising an effective amount of a lymphocyte differentiation factor, e.g., protein A (PA) sufficient to adjust the immune response.
