The present invention is a binder composition for batteries which comprises: [A] a polymer that bears both at least one kind of structural units selected from the group consisting of structural units represented by formulae (a1) to (a5) respectively, and a functional group (f) containing at least one kind of atom selected from the group consisting of nitrogen atom, oxygen atom, silicon atom, germanium atom and tin atom, and that exhibits a solubility of 5g/100g or more in cyclohexane at 25°C and one atm; and [B] a liquid medium.
