<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal cycler capable of performing PCR in a short time period with a simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: The thermal cycler includes a holder to which a biotip 100 having a longitudinal direction is attached, a heating unit which heats a first end portion of the biotip, a rotating unit which rotates the holder, and a controller which controls the rotation speed of the rotating unit. The biotip is attached to the holder in such a manner that one end portion of the biotip 100 is at a higher level than the other end portion, and that the distance between one end portion of the biotip and the rotational axis is shorter than the distance between the other end portion of the biotip and the rotational axis. The controller has a first mode a rotation speed at which the magnitude of the centrifugal force acting on a reaction liquid becomes smaller than the gravity, and a second mode a rotation speed at which the magnitude of the centrifugal force acting on the reaction liquid becomes greater than the gravity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
