<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a liquid crystal display element including a high-contrast polymer ferroelectric liquid crystal, and a liquid crystal display element. <P>SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display element comprises: a first substrate and a second substrate that face each other; a first alignment film and a second alignment film, which have been aligned by a rubbing method, provided for surfaces of the first substrate and the second substrate that face each other, respectively; and a liquid crystal layer formed by enclosing a liquid crystal material including polymer ferroelectric liquid crystal between the first substrate provided with the first alignment film and the second substrate provided with the second alignment film. The first and second alignment films are formed by a combination of different kinds that satisfies the relation: the spacer length between polyimides of one of the first and second alignment films=the spacer length between polyimides of the other alignment film×2.5×n(n is a positive integer of 0 or more). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
