The present invention relates to a device and method for moving a disabled vehicle. More specifically, the invention includes a main frame assembly that is constructed and arranged for placement and adjacent to the outside portion of a vehicle wheel (24) to allow one operator movement of the vehicle. An electric motor (26) and battery (s) (46) operate through a gear train (28) to rotate an adapter plate (38) in both forward and reverse directions. The adapter plate is constructed and arranged to cooperate with the lug nuts or wheel studs to provide rotation to the wheel upon operation of the electric motor. A hand or remotely operable controller (72) is provided for the operation of the electric motor which allows for operation of the device while walking alongside or sitting at the driver's position within the vehicle.
