<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system capable of enlarging a color reproduction range without generating image defect due to an excessive color material amount. <P>SOLUTION: In an image formation system for forming images on a recording medium using a plurality of color materials including at least a black color material, an image processing system allows pseudo halftone processing means 24 to process image data input with an image data input part, and generates output image data in accordance with the output level of each color material. The image processing system includes: calculation means 21 for calculating an estimated value of the color material amount that will overlap with black color after pseudo halftone processing based on the image data prior to the processing; determination means 22 for determining a first color material total amount value based on the estimated value; first total amount regulation means 23 for reducing signal values for each color so that the color material total amount value of the image data prior to the pseudo halftone processing will never exceed the first color material total amount value; and second total amount regulation means 25 for reducing the signal values of pixels overlapping with black color so that the image data after the pseudo halftone processing will never exceed the preset second color material total amount value based on the image formation capability of the image formation system with regard to the color material total amount value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
