<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy for casting, which has excellent mechanical properties, such as 0.2% bearing force, tensile strength and extension, and can reduce solidification cracking at the time of casting, and to provide a casting material. <P>SOLUTION: The aluminum alloy for casting of the Al-1.5% Mn system contains, by mass, 1.4-1.6% Mn, 0.2-5.0% Si, 0.05-0.35% Cu, 0.1-0.3% Mg, 0.5-0.7% Fe, and 0.1-0.3% Ti, and the balance thereof includes Al and inevitable impurities.
