PURPOSE: An electrophoretic display device and a driving method thereof are provided to change reflecting rates of a cholesteric liquid crystal layer and an electronic ink layer, thereby increasing a reflecting rate of a color electrophoretic display device, a contrast ratio, and a chroma. CONSTITUTION: A first pixel electrode is formed on a lower substrate. An electronic ink layer(300) is located on the first pixel electrode. A common electrode(270) is located on the electronic ink layer. A liquid crystal layer(250) is formed on the common electrode. The liquid crystal layer expresses colors. A second pixel electrode(220) is formed on the liquid crystal layer. An upper substrate is formed on the second pixel electrode. The liquid crystal layer is a cholesteric liquid crystal layer. The cholesteric liquid crystal layer comprises partition walls which are separated according to each pixel.
