A butterfly valve comprises a valve body 12 with a flexible liner 22, a disc valve 32 supported by a shaft 36 received in diametrically opposed openings, and seals bonded to apertures in the liner which are aligned with openings in the body for passing the shaft through the liner without the danger of leakage occurring between the shaft and liner. Each seal contains an 0-ring 44 and is provided at one end of a bushing 34 which may be of p.t.f.e. A further 0-ring 38 and a cover-plate 50 surround the projecting end of the shaft 36 which is secured to the valve 32 by tapered pins 48. The liner 22 may be made from chemically inert rubber such as that known as neoprene or " Hycar (Trade Mark).</p> |
