The method involves compensating vehicle body movement, and compensating movement of a light module (1) i.e. headlight, by a control from light sources (2) e.g. LEDs and two-dimensional grids, arranged in the light module. A position of the light module is detected as an actual value and compared with a reference value of a radiation pattern (8) of the light module, and an actuating signal for the control is determined. Pitch motions and/or staggering movements and/or vibration movements of a vehicle body are compensated. An independent claim is also included for an illumination device for a vehicle.
