The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for aligning data frames in a transceiver device, wherein reception data is buffered in a circular reception buffer (312) and transmission data is buffered in a circular transmission buffer (322). Values of a current frame sequence number (rx-SN), a current wrap count (rx-WrC) and a current read/write offset (rx-OS) of the reception buffer (312) are stored and target values for a wrap count (tx-WrC) and a read/write offset (tx-OS) for the transmission buffer are calculated based on the current frame sequence number (rx-SN), the current wrap count (rx-WrC) and the current read/write offset (rx-OS) of the reception buffer (312). A new data frame is written into the transmission buffer (322) when the target values have been reached at said transmission buffer (322).
