When the rotary piston pump (1) is in its installed position, each of its rotary pistons turns about a vertical axis within the pump casing (14). Rotary axes of a pair of pistons are parallel and spaced apart. To transmit torque from the drive spline (10) to the rotary pistons, an angled gearbox transmission (11) is provided. The pump casing has two connection openings for the pumped fluid. Ahead of either or both openings, outside the pump casing, fluid storage chambers (4, 5) are provided. These are connected to the pipework (8, 9) for pumped fluid.
