The static synchronous compensation unit 202 comprises a plurality of static synchronous compensation modules 302 for compensating reactive power in the electrical power system 100. The current harmonics elimination unit 204 comprises a plurality of active filter modules 502 for eliminating current harmonics generated in the electrical power system 100. The compensation control unit 206 implements a sequential control mechanism for regulating the operation of the static synchronous compensation modules 302 and the active filter modules 502.
