摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimum datum point for identifying the deformation property at which the deflection on the horizontal plane of work rolls becomes sufficiently small in a rolling mill which includes a mechanism for supporting the work roll with a split backup roll in which at least one of upper and lower roll assemblies is split into three or more in the axial direction and includes an independent screw down device, a load measuring device and a screw down location measuring device on each of split backup rolls. <P>SOLUTION: The total load of the split backup rolls for the datum point for identifying the deformation property is assumed and the load distribution of the split backup rolls which is the target where the deflection on the horizontal plane of the work rolls is sufficiently made small is preacquired; the split backup rolls are clamped until reaching that total load under the kiss-roll state of the rolling mill; the load of the split backup rolls when clamping is measured and the positions of the split backup rolls are corrected from the difference from the target load distribution of the split backup rolls and the target screw-down location of the split backup rolls where the target load distribution of the split backup rolls is obtained is taken as the datum point of the deformation property. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
