1,037,810. Typewriters. ING. C. OLIVETTI & C. S.p.A. Sept. 16, 1963 [Sept. 17, 1962], No. 36349/63. Heading B6F. A type bar rest support 7, Fig. 1 comprises an arcuate element 8 of rubber or synthetic plastic mounted for radial and tangential movement on an arcuate guide 9, 9 by means of eyelets 18, Fig. 2, attached to inextensible cable 17 mounted within the element 8, the eyelets being supported on one end 19 of a pivoted lever 15, the other end 20 of which is connected to springs 14 attached to pins 21 of the arcuate guide. The guide is made of two parts and is fixedly mounted on a type bar basket 6 by two rods 11. The element 8 is provided with a pair of grooves 12 co-operating for radial and tangential movement, with rims 13 of the guide. When a central type-bar 4 is restored its impact against the inner edge of the element 8 displaces the element radially outwards, which displacement is transmitted tangentially via the eyelets 18 to the levers 15 which are rocked to tension the springs 14, which thereby cushion the impact to prevent rebound and suppress the noise of the returned type-bar. Laterally mounted type-bars are restored in a similar manner. |
