The method involves deforming a forged blank (2) in a forging device (3) with a cavity upper part (4) and a cavity lower part (5), where the forged blank consists of damask steel. The forged blank is asymmetrically deformed with respect to a primary middle plane, which runs perpendicular to a forged cam. The cavity upper part and/or the cavity lower part is penetrated into the forged blank, where the upper part and/or the lower part comprises a bowl-shaped molding (9), which is attached to a bolt.
