Systems, methods and apparatus are provided through which in some implementations a portable wireless digital X-ray detector includes a battery electrically coupled to at least one external electrical conductor. In some implementations, the external electrical conductor is mounted flush to an outside of a housing of the portable wireless digital X-ray detector. In some implementations, the external electrical conductor plate includes only hypoallergenic materials. In some implementations, the battery is fixed mounted in the portable wireless digital X-ray detector.
