Continuous casting apparatus and continuous casting method using the same

PURPOSE: A continuous casting apparatus and method are provided to prevent defects of slab due to changes in the soft reduction area of a cooling line. CONSTITUTION: A continuous casting apparatus comprises a capping unit(60), an LCR(Liquid Core Reduction) segment line(70), and a soft reduction segment line(80). The capping unit sprays cooling water to the open top of a casting mold to solidify molten steel remaining in the mold(50) in the finish stage of casting. The LCR segment line temporarily reduces a roll gap through which slab(10) passes and restores the reduced roll gap. The soft reduction segment line softly presses the processed slab.
