PURPOSE: A photographing device, a photographing control method, and a program product are provided to obtain information about time necessary for compressing data and balance of a compression rate according to a consecutive photographing speed. CONSTITUTION: A driving unit(27) drives a photographing system(11~13) at one of consecutive photographing speeds. An image compressing/extending unit(15a) sequentially compresses image data based on a specific compression rate. An image processing unit(15) and a CPU(Central Processing Unit)(21) resets the compression rate higher when the compressed image data do not belong to a predetermined data amount. The image compressing/extending unit compresses the image data. The times of compressing one image data are controlled according to the consecutive photographing speed.
