PURPOSE: A light emitting device and a method of fabricating the same are provided to omit a separate patterning process for forming an electrode since the electrode is formed by successively etching a P-type semiconductor bar and an active layer along with an electrode layer. CONSTITUTION: Laminates bars(25) is formed on a substrate(21). An insulating layer(31) fills an empty space between the laminated bars. The insulating layer and the laminated bars have the same height. Metal wiring(35) electrically connects laminated bars, in other word, light emitting cells. A buffer layer(23) is formed between the substrate and the laminated bars.
