PURPOSE: A device for converting a 2D image into a 3D image using brightness change energy and a method thereof are provided to add a vertical connection line of minimum energy to an image or delete the connection line from the image, thereby moving a location of an object. CONSTITUTION: A Y converting unit(101) generates a Y image from an RGB image. An energy map generating unit(102) generates an energy map, which is calculated according to a brightness change degree of each pixel, from the Y image. A vertical connection line extracting unit(103) extracts a vertical connection line of a minimum energy value from the energy map. An adding unit(104) adds a pixel energy average value or a minimum energy pixel to a portion next to the vertical connection line. A moving unit(105) moves a right image left from a reference location.
