The device has an endless ribbed/smooth belt (1) sliding on two side edges (4). The side edges are equipped with guiding rollers (5) fixed by angle hinges (6) on a beam (8). The beam is fixed on a framework of a belt conveyor (10), and a central roller (7) is fixed on the beam. A sealing plate (3) is suspended between the two side edges. A cover (9) protects an assembly formed by the plate, the side edges and the rollers. The guiding rollers enable the belt to be turned and centered with respect to an axis of the conveyor.
