<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for generating a wide dynamic range image based on one photographed image. <P>SOLUTION: Exposure time control for setting to exposure time different in a pixel region unit such as a row unit of a pixel portion is performed. A plurality of different pixel information being pixel values of pixels, which are set in different exposure time, are obtained. High sensitivity pixel information is obtained from a long time exposure pixel and low sensitivity pixel information from a short time exposure pixel, and the pixel value of an output image is calculated based on pixel information different in sensitivity, for example. In a high luminance region, sensitivity pixel information has a possibility to become a saturation value. Thus, weight of the low sensitivity pixel information is set to be large. In a low luminance region, an SN ratio of the low sensitivity pixel information is estimated to be inferior.
