<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus that prevents thickening of ink and can carry out high-definition recording over long time. <P>SOLUTION: The recording apparatus includes: a recording head having a flow path forming part 14 which has an ejection orifice plate 18 having ejection orifices 9 and respective liquid chambers 8 provided in the orifices 9 to supply ink to the orifices 9, and an energy generating element 7; and ink tanks 6 and 6'. A surface layer 14' of the flow path forming part 14 opposes to the outside of the ejection orifice plate 18, and an opening 31 is provided opposing to the orifices 9 in the surface layer 14' of the flow path forming part 14. Further an ink reservoir 10 is provided between the ejection orifice plate 18 and the opening 31 of the surface layer 14', and a circulation flow path 11 communicating with the ink reservoir 10 is provided. Both ends of the circulation flow path 11 are respectively connected to an inlet 32 and an outlet 33 connected to the circulation flow path 11.
