The system (100) has a plate-shaped rear shelf (20) for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle, and a partially adjustable, elastic retainer (10) for retaining objects stored on the rear shelf. The elastic retainer is partially connected with clamping elements (11), where the clamping elements are spaced apart from each other such that differentially clamped reservoirs are spanned by movement of the clamping elements. The clamping elements are secured at the rear shelf by a hinge mechanism (23) that comprises a rotational axis (R) and a translational axis (T). An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling and dismantling of a retention facility of a rear shelf system.
