<p>Provided is a vehicle drive system equipped with: an engine; a manual transmission capable of changing the gear range; a clutch arranged between the engine and the transmission; and a control device that controls the driving of the engine. During coasting, when the transmission of torque between the engine and the axle is interrupted, the control device cuts the fuel to the engine when the clutch is released, and the gear range of the transmission is changed to an ahead stage and the gear range after this change is lower than the optimal gear range corresponding to the vehicle speed.</p> |
