<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading apparatus allowing an operator to feel less dazzling to the light emitted from a light source regardless of the direction in which the operator sees the light source, and an image forming apparatus having the same. <P>SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus 100 includes lighting control means 441 for controlling turning on and off of a light source 211 and light quantity control means 442 for controlling the light emission quantity of the light source 211. If the lighting control means 441 turns on the light source 211 before reading an image of a document G when opening and closing detection means 260 detects that a document pressing member 319 is closed, the light quantity control means 442 controls the light emission quantity of the light source 211 so as to become less than the light emission quantity when the image of the document G is read. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
