PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for producing a media file for a multilayer image in a multimedia system and a media file reproducing apparatus are provided to encode three layer images by including a base layer image and two enhancement layer images. CONSTITUTION: An input image is encoded. Bit streams(173,175) of multi layer images are generated. Bit streams of the multilayer images are inputted. A plurality of track information divided into a base layer and at least one enhancement layer and a media file including media data are generated.
