PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent data from being leaked and stolen while suppressing an increase in labor and costs in a storage device.

SOLUTION: A memory area management unit 1b2 can set either a first area or a second area in a memory area held by a memory medium 1b3 that stores data. The first area can be accessed and used for data reading/writing between a host device 2 and a memory unit 1b when an authentication processing unit 1b1 succeeds in access authentication with a first password. The second area can be released when the authentication processing unit 1b1 succeeds in access authentication with a second password. When the memory unit 1b needs to be disconnected, a control unit 1a causes the memory area management unit 1b2 to set the second area in a memory area in which the first area is set.
